Hi,
I did this "Remove the old version with rpm --erase --nodeps" but
unfortunately it comes down to these conflicts again this is a sample,
there's 35 all told)
file /usr/bin/c_rehash conflicts between attemped installs of
openssl-0.9.5a-14 and openssl-perl-0.9.6-9
file /usr/share/man/man1/CA.pl.1.gz conflicts between attemped installs of
openssl-0.9.5a-14 and openssl-perl-0.9.6-9
file /usr/bin/openssl conflicts between attemped installs of openssl-0.9.6-9
and openssl-0.9.5a-14
file /usr/share/man/man1/asn1parse.1.gz conflicts between attemped installs
of openssl-0.9.6-9 and openssl-0.9.5a-14
file /usr/share/man/man1/ca.1.gz conflicts between attemped installs of
openssl-0.9.6-9 and openssl-0.9.5a-14
When I verify the new installation I get the following errors:
[root at domain euroweb2 man1]# rpm -Vf /usr/bin/openssl
SM5....T /usr/share/man/man1/asn1parse.1.gz
SM5....T /usr/share/man/man1/ca.1.gz
SM5....T /usr/share/man/man1/ciphers.1.gz
SM5....T /usr/share/man/man1/crl.1.gz
.M5....T /usr/share/man/man1/crl2pkcs7.1.gz
SM5....T /usr/share/man/man1/dgst.1.gz
.M5....T /usr/share/man/man1/dhparam.1.gz
SM5....T /usr/share/man/man1/dsa.1.gz
SM5....T /usr/share/man/man1/dsaparam.1.gz
I assume this is what is stopping me doing the full update as the conflicts
are with these files where
S = File Size
5 = MD5 Sum
T = Mtime
M = Mode (permissions and file type)

Remove the old version with rpm --erase --nodeps
Install the new version (this should take care off all the dependancies
RPM was complaining about)
Try running up2date again
