Subject: Re: [ILUG] Alpha Server 1200..bit of a silly question
Hi Robert,
I haven't used a 1200, but the older boxes (1000/2000/2100s) have a
switch on the front that when pressed in will only bring the machine as
far as the SRM prompt when booting. You should also be able to halt the
machine from Tru64 and get the ">>>" prompt. When you get there you can
"set auto_action halt" (I think!) and it should always stop when
booting.
Hope this helps,
Fergus.

any of these. Perhaps the bios is a bit old (1997) in that it doesnt support
booting from CD but I cant seem to get into the bios screen to check any of
this. The users manual says holding down F2 at boot time will do this but it
doesnt seem to, the system just goes straigh into Tru64.
