It works, if you can find the right one. I have the MicroTech SiO Compact
Flash reader, which usb-storage doesn't recognise, and I haven't quite
figured out where to put the device ID to make it take it.

I did use Compact Flash with a PCMCIA adapter for ages, and that works
really well under Linux, Windows, *BSD etc.
