If the image orginal was ISO9660 then you only need to remove the
adaptec softare bits. The newer HP Software adds some data at the start
of the image. The real image I think starts at offset 96h or 98h in
first sector. Any thing before this is related to the burner software.

If you use dd to read the fist 25 sectors of the image You can find what
the offset is by looking at sector 16 and seeing how far the start of
the Volume descriptor is away from the actual offset (8000H)

Remove that data at start of the image and try to mount it..

I have never tried to burn a full image like this but i did remove the
boot sector from one of these images sucessfully.

Hopefully it does not add more data at other sectors through the image
??
