Too late. /bin, /usr/bin/, /usr/X11R6/bin are all fairly established
at this stage. X-Open (I think) has a fairly sane version of this;
each vendor gets a subdirectory under /opt/ , and each app goes below
this subdirectory. Didn't really catch on outside of Solaris & some
SVR4s.
