*snigger* Oooh, lovely. Right, I emptied the source tarball, read the README,
had a quick look through the Config.in, shuddered, and did a "make oldconfig"
followed swiftly by a "make xconfig". Then I did a make clean (I know now....)
and make dep, bzImage, modules, modules_install, and wondered why it booted but
didn't have my configuration (APM etc.). So next time I did the make clean
first, and saved the config so I wouldn't have to do it again. All in all, I've
forgotten what the default (booting) config was, so I might just re-empty the
tarball and go again.

The joys of continuing education, eh?
