ah.. with apt-get install i see it's cause it's cause there the new
package is dependent on packages i dont have installed.

i presume the way to get it to install new packages to resolve
dependencies as necc'ry is 'dist-upgrade'?

ah... no way round so. :(

finally, i keep getting messages like:

File does not exist: /var/kits/apt/alphyra/base/release.test

in the log files of the HTTP server that acts as my apt source. what
aer they, and how do i generate them?
