I doesn't sound crazy, the reasoning is that the mail, web and proxy
servers are controlled by the academic side. there was a power failure
recently that blow a component in one of our cisco routers that meant
that our network could not access these servers in the academic network.

Sooo, i am setting up our own mail server for our own use.

as for the exchange server, i think that it will be going linux very
shortly, the only good thing that i have found with win2k is that it is
so difficult to administer that they will find it easier to learn
another OS. :-)

the way I think would be to have the redhat mail server as a main
barrier with the outside world and have the exchange server inside.

Wouldn't that make more sense ?
We used to have it here and that wasn't too bad ...
