To save everyone time and trouble, I have some TeX Live 6
CD-ROMs which have ready-to-install systems for Win32 (fpTeX),
and Linux/Unix (teTeX: DEC, HP, Sun, and SGI).
I bought them from the TeX Users Group for ITALIC so I
need to charge for them, but they're only a quid a throw
(use PayPal to my address as above or send me coin or
stamps if you don't want to waste a cheque: mail me for
my snail address).
