I've just installed debian's squid on my laptop and configured netscape
appropriately (0 disk cache, 0 memory cache, empty both, use squid).
Quat and restarted netscape...
The images seem to be cached appropriately. Sample tail from access.log
is below. I seem to be running 2.2.5.

Apols for even mentioning this but is your computer's time correct?

Also, as I mentioned, possibly not useful for your squid version. :-(
I notice that when I reduce the size of my squid's memory and disk cache
to 1MB each (ie. hopefully small enough to make squid reluctant to cache
the userfriendly page), I get lots of SWAPOUTs and RELEASEs in the store.log
and lots of TCP_MISS/200 entries in the cache log.
Is your cache full? Big enough?
