Last time I saw a Sun Workshop CD (which was, in fairness, 2 years ago) it
had Sparc and Intel versions.

You're a mean and nasty person :-) ADSL is just becoming available here, at
the following absurd costs:

Connection fee EUR 150 inc. VAT
Monthly fee is EUR 118.80 inc. VAT
ADSL USB modem EUR 174 inc. VAT
ADSL Ethernet modem EUR 240 inc. VAT

Note that the above is the LOWEST level of service (512k/128k) and there's a
monthly cap on downloads of 3GB - anything after that you pay for. By my
calculations, if you use the full potential speed of the service you will
exceed the monthly cap in less than 14 hours.

However, even if I wanted to pay this, I can't. The Irish Telecoms regulator
has refused Eircom (= Ireland Telecom) permission to charge these prices
(actually, the related wholesale prices to competitors), saying that they
are too high and not cost related. Eircom has responded by saying that they
simply won't sell the service at all - I'm afraid I live in a banana
republic :-(

BTW have you given any more consideration to how we will proceed. Stef told
me that he wouldn't be ready to start before Oct. 15 which is however next
week, so have you given any consideration to activities and time frames. In
particular I should organise travel to GIF or DA as early as possible in
order to benefit from best prices.

Regards,

Niall

P.S. Just to upset me more, what does ADSL cost you ?
