just did a tar xvjf on linux-2.4.12.tar.bz2 and it untarred wrongly (bad
end of file) (got the source kernel 2 minutes ago from esat).
Try 2.4.10 and then get the patches, might be better ... worst case, get
the one directly from kernel.org
