You can still use your 8859-1 fonts, it's just that the Euro sign will
display ¤ (\xa4, international currency sign.) (I hope that's right,
I'm on a mac at them minute and the fecking thing won't display
anything but MacRoman in a terminal window. n-tilde, anyone?)
Everything else should display fine.
The TrueType path is the Way of the Future, anyway :-) .
How old is your X installation? I think recent versions ship with a
fair number of -15 fonts.
