Ae> In fairness, Eircom announcement in September did say that they planned
Ae> provide ADSL in "Limerick, Galway, Cork, the south-east, midlands and
Ae> north-west by December 2002."
When I spoke to the ADSL people in Eircom, they made no mention of anywhere
outside of Dublin. This was two days ago. Maybe their plan was to release it all
over the place but the problem is that I live in deep Connemara and this is
possibly the last place to get it :)
Ae> Of course, like just about all eircom pronouncements, it's not actually

Ae> inherently distance limited, and that some people, especially outside

Ae> Eircom can definitely be blamed for this - and I read in the paper the
Ae> other day that the Communications bill that might actually give the ODTR
Ae> the power to force eircom to get it's act together is likely to be
Ae> delayed, possible until after the next election.
And with the take over, Eircom will take even longer. :(
