Hear hear! As I mentioned earlier I was playing with Beta 3 of Win2000
last night, and to install a *USB* device I had to restart the PC.
Silly me, I thought that some UNIX-like (vaguely) improvements would
have included the ability to make moest changes without having to
bring down a machine. I refer to the improvements in security for
instance. Of course improvement from nothing is not necessarily much.
I still cannot get used to this 'your mouse has moved please restart
your computer' crap after I had to start using Windows again last year
after a long absence.
Do MS make money from restarting PC's every 5 minutes or something?
Ok it's time to invite boasts - anyone with 6 month uptime??
