There are a lot of MUA's that cannot handle it and also a number of lists
that if thy find any attachment delete them. He is not helping the cause :)

I found the list that was deleting the body with clear signing, it was the
Exim list. The reason being that it was set to delete anything that had a
filename, which even in clearsign (non mime) Mutt was adding a
filename="pgp.msg" or similar. I got around it by adding a patch that I
found via the Mutt mailing list
