Wasn't Global Knowledge Network in that building?
Must be all their old training stuff from when they were part of DEC.

Subject: [ILUG] dumpster diving in dublin 4

A vast skip-full of computers was discovered in the car park between the
Australian Embassy building (Wilton house?) and the Canal. It was
apparrently very full of Digital Servers etc etc etc, loads of software, and

boxes of new unopened SCO unix manuals, training courses etc etc. Loads of
CDs in M$ folders with BETA printed on them. Quantities of other CDs. Ext
SCSI Drive. Loads of Digital Monitors.

By the time I got there at 2200 hrs on Wed night 10th April, some of the
stuff had been rescued.
I managed to locate and retrieve the following:

2 x DecServer 200/MC
1 x Digitial Storage Expansion SZ12 (weighs a ton, must contain loads of
drives?)
1 x Digital Declaser 2200 printer (forgot to resuce the paper tray!)
3 x Digital keyboards with phone-type connectors.
1 x Redhat 7.1 with Redhat certification course in unopened packaging (I'm
keeping that, thanks!)

I don't have the space for ANY of this stuff, so it is here in Park West for

the taking. Please e-mail me or phone me on 087 2453118. First come, first
servered, obviously.

BUT!!! The skip was not empty. If it is still there, it may be worth a look
at, in the cold light of day. The software end appears to be that closer to
the building.

I'd suggest you have a look early today Thursday 11th April 2002. The skip
may be gone, but if you're nearby, or can call someone who is, do check it
out!

The very idea that this stuff, and dozens of monitors etc could be skipped,
is a clear reflection of the kind of society/world we live in.

In case you think the stuff was all junk, one guy I met there had collected
and tested loads of stuff earlier, and it all worked!
