I really, REALLY hate arbitrary distribution bashing. Niall, this is
RH7.2 in action:
[root at domain klortho root]# chkconfig --list autofs
autofs 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:off 4:off 5:off 6:off
[root at domain klortho root]# chkconfig --add autofs
[root at domain klortho root]# chkconfig --list autofs
autofs 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:on 4:on 5:on 6:off
Now. Evidently there is some sort of a problem with your /particular/
installation. I would suggest you debug it before simply saying "pfft,
RedHat". It's all Linux, and simply pissing on it without trying to
figure out what's wrong helps nobody.
