As reported to this list, I've been having problems connecting to tinet. I'm
using a modem with Rockwell chipset. If plug-n-play is enabled, the bios
reports it as "ISA PnP K56flex fax/modem". I have disabled plug-n-play on
modem. Also I want to connect over ordinary domestic phone line. The only
installation of modem was done by YaST. I am using reduced baud rate of 57600. I
don't know much about modems, and don't know how to disable V90 functions if
they are responsible for continuing problems (and large phone bill).
If this is not a good modem for linux, manufacturer will replace it with one
that is. (Originally I went to list on www of modems that can used with
linux, and then manufacturer installed their standard one anyway. List was a
bit daunting because it included alot that are no longer made.) So any strong
recommendations welcome.
Cheers,
David
