Others mentioned MRTG.

Just for the record:

MRTG is intended as a statistical long term monitoring application, while
NetSaint is intended for alerting and error conditions.

For example, MRTG will tell you where and when your network bandwidth is
going. NetSaint will tell you that it is gone. NetSaint will also monitor
web servers, databases, etc. and AFAIR can detect changes to specific pages.
Useful to detect some hacker modifying the front page of your company's web
site[1]. MRTG has a very powerful statistical engine that makes it very
simple to keep a long history of statistics.

They are really complimentary tools and I see no problem with using both at
the same time.
