Hmm I suppose you have a point, if I document the steps to setting up the
Slackware Box as a Firewalled Gateway and any modifications that need to be
done for Oracle, it "shouldn't" be too much of a stretch for a
newbie/windows_troll, but still...

Don't get me wrong I prefare Slack/Gentoo/Even Debian to SuSE/Mandrake/Red
Hat like systems, but assuming the next admin is a *nix virgin it might be a
bit neglegent of 'someone' to leave an ostensibly cli configed system in his
wake for others to admin.

Yeah if the superpowers that be on the development side liked using oracle
or touting oracle on Linux to our clients for better preformance etc, then I
could probably get a reasonably high specked machine for dedicated Oracle db
hosting.
I just hope that if and when I get a better job offer and leave that the
Linux box 'which has already saved a few thousand euro's worth of DSL router
and firewall, not to mention resurrecting a p1 that was collecting dust in a
corner of the office', will continue on in my abscence... though that said I
might in my final few weeks here in a fit of paranoia, nuke Slackware and
stick on Mandrake so that I feel as if I have done my part in presenting
Linux as an easy to use and administer platform.
