Fair warning - I didn't try hard, but I popped in a SuSE 7.3 install CD -
got about 60% of the way through loading the kernel and then froze. Caveat
emptor and all that. And LIDL will NOT take it back if Linux doesn't run -
it's excluded from their normal no quibble refund policy.

I bought one of these last time they had them (couple of months ago). When I
say I bought, I bought it for a friend who didn't have a Laser card nor the
means of getting the cash quickly. He's VERY happy with it and he's in the
computer trade so can buy whatever brand at trade prices. It came with XP
but he upgraded it to Windows 98 and was pleasantly surprised to discover
that it came with '98 drivers for everything on the CD.

And it took several attempts to provide the Laser system to authorise 1800
EUR. If you're going to buy one

a) Go early - as in be there at 0900
b) Bring cash.

Another plus point is that it has two years warranty - essential AFAIAC to
get more than 1 year's warranty with a notebook.
