Yes, many people really, really like the proprietary Opera browser for
Linux. I sometimes forget to mention it because I prefer open-source
software where practical (but include it in my list of good browsers at
http://linuxmafia.com/~rick/faq/#linuxbrowser) -- and it's been such a
delight to finally be able to give Netscape Communicator the heave-ho in
favour of not one but _three_ excellent open-source alternatives
(Galeon, Mozilla, Konqueror).
In the Linux context, I would appreciate it if Opera admirers would
mention that, unlike the other three, it's proprietary software. Many
readers will be unaware of this difference, including some who dislike
getting locked into proprietary code inadvertantly.

Please consider trying more-modern versions, in your comparisons. My
comments were based on:
Galeon 1.2.5
Mozilla 1.0.0
Konqueror 2.2.2
(Yes, I know there's undoubtedly a Konqueror 3.0 that came out
incidental to KDE 3.0. However, I stay a few steps back from the
bleeding edge.)
