[ILUG] PC 2700 memory speed

I'm in the middle of building a couple of boxes which use PC2700 DDR RAM. As
I always do, I ran memtest overnight on the boxes which found me one very
slightly dodgy RAM stick. But more to the point, the DIMMs are of two
different types and when running memtest, one type shows an access speed of
~500 MB/s and the other ~600 MB/s. The slower has a label showing clocks of
2.5 3 3 - the faster has no clock labelling. I've been googling and found a
mention of "These modules are programmed for CAS 2.5-3-3 operation at 333MHz
via the serial presence detect (SPD) EEPROM.". Does this apply to all PC2700
RAM ? If so, what can explain the difference in speed in these two modules ?
BTW it is the memory as I switched the twqo modules in question between two
different boxes and the speeds stayed the same.

Niall
