If this were the alcatel 350i I would tell you to
1. Run rp_pppoe
2. Make sure you had a bridge configured in the modem so with the right VCI
set etc so that pppoe would work, because without this it won't... not so
sure about your model though.
If the modem has a number of settable internal settings then you probably
need to specify a bridge like I do on the alcatel...
