Hot swap. Configure it to have a hot spare. When a disk dies, just rip it
out and replace it. No need to even reboot under those circumstances... ;)
In worst case, if the box you have doesn't support hot swap, just shutdown,
replace dead drive, reboot, and it'll take care of itself for you.... Dead
handy in my oppinion.
