No, I'm doing all this to see what I CAN do with UML. It seems to be a
cheap-mans version of using VMWare to run Linux within Linux.

Basically, I want to be able to run Linux within Linux so I can play arould
with this new Linux and thrash the hell out of it without having to worry
about the health of my box. I've been bitten too many time by installing
this, that and the other thing and suddenly my box crashes and I have to drag
it down to an ILUG meeting to try to get it working again, Yes, that was me
;-)
This way, I can put whatever I want into the UML box, paly around with it,
andif I trash it up completely, I can just change back to the original
root_fs and start again. if the kernel oopses, I can just re-start it. All
safe in the knowledge that my home box is safe and sound!

Since I've started compiling new X servers, KDE3, mplayer and even my own
OpenGL stuff, I'm getting more nervous of the health of my own system.

Now I can try my hand at building a DIY Linux and still have my own Debian
system.

But thank you for your concern and for the info. I'm sure I'll find use for
that tip somewhere.

Cheers,
