Given that concern, you might want to consider avoiding xauth, because
it's a serious security hazard. Doing "ssh -X user at domain host" is my
preferred substitute: It takes care, automatically, of both the MIT
magic cookie and the DISPLAY variable, sending all information through
the ssh tunnel. ("host" in that command can be localhost, for strictly
local, non-UML usage where, e.g., you want to run an X11 client with
root-user authority.)
