Realistically, I'd say comment the damn thing out. I haven't seen a
useful running fingerd for years, so the above isn't going to be of much
use, on top of which you mentioned that the box is behind a firewall
anyway, right?
You may want to read up on tcp_wrappers configuration if you're still
concerned about logging and/or blocking TCP-based access.
