Victory is mine! It turns out that in each of the directories in which
cvs considers 'linux_gateway' to be a label, there is a file upon which
'cvs tag -F linuxgateway' must have been performed, with the effect that
to that file, linux_gateway is a label, but to the rest of the files,
it's still a branch. Ah. It's just occured to me that t'was me who done
the deed. Oops. Back then i was young and naieve. The solution will
involve editing the rcs files by hand, yay.
