Hmmm, you miss the point.
This was used as an example to show how a company used a different approach
to combat serious competition.
The book has no need to go into detail about GNU, RMS and Open Source as it
would not be relevant for the majority of readers.
It's aimed at the corporate public whether they are selling fast food,
prescription medication or computer software.
Why would a company such as Nike,Warner-Lambert or General Motors need to
know about GNU?
There is no practical application for that "way of business" in their
respective industry's....does anyone (apart from their competition) need
have free access to the design of a new sports shoe\cough medicine\engine
design.
Therefore it would be a waste of their time reading about it, I'm not sure
if anyone involved in computing can appreciate how dull the stuff we talk
about actually is to people who have no interest in computers.
