Well I don't know about your problem but I can confirm that the
Audigy (with Livedrive) works brilliantly. I have mine fully working,
didnt take much effort, the emu10k1 driver in 2.4.19 defaults are safe for
most things, a bit of playing with emu-config and emu-dspmgr in an init
script and you're there. Among other things I have SDS working with
xine, and the remote control fully working (with the help of an
app called rcenter), I can control xmms, and via xvkbd ; WindowMaker
(flicking workspaces from your couch can be suprisingly useful).
