I've owned lists on Smartlist, Majordomo, Mailman and Listserv. Of the
first three, Mailman is the only free MLM that I can stand to use;
everything else usually causes me to offer a new home for the list, just
so I can manage the list in a sane manner. Listserv's a real beauty -
all the stuff that really ought to be automated is automated, and its
template files are very carefully worded to be clear and informative -
but it's payware.
A word to mail server operators - please make DSN error message support
a factor in your choice of mail daemon. Some of us who manage big lists
still use them, and it's better for the ozone layer.
