[ILUG] ipcop problem

I'm trying to replace a troublesome msproxy server with an ipcop box,
the only problem is the ipcop box wont pick up the modem.
I tried the modem out on a mandrake box, where it was picked up
(lots of blinky lights when dialing and so on), but ipcop just
doesnt seem to work with it. only the power light on.

the modem is a Microcomputer research , Inc Mr ISDN External (Serial not usb).
Their website only features windows drivers.

anyone have any ideas on how to kick it into life?
