[ILUG] the "best" ftp proxy?

hi - i'm looking to set up an ftp proxy for my internal network. squid
is working away fine but some of the people on the private network want
to upload files to ftp servers and if that's possible using squid then i
dont know how.

what i'm looking for are recommendations for a secure,stable ftp proxy
(or, on the off chance that it's possible to use squid, an explanation
of how. to my mind it shouldn't be).

any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
