But why not just not bother with mkinitrd, go static baby, its what all the
cool kids do ;--)
Its only gonna be your boot controller driver & initial FStype that needs
it, which is probably the same as the rest of your Fs'es anyway.

has anyone noticed that mkinitrd does not seem to work on non-RH 2.4
kernels?
complains that no loopback devices are available. indeed losetup (at
least RH's) just does not seem to work on non-RH 2.4 kernels.
which is a pain, if you're trying to install a RH kernel onto a box
with a non-RH kernel.
which brings me to my next question, is there anyone out there with
RH's 2.4.18-10 and 2.4.18-10smp Athlon kernel package installed, who
could run mkinitrd for me? :)
