[ILUG] Problems with sbp2 with an external firewire harddrive

I'm trying to set up an external firewire hard drive.

I'm using kernel 2.4.18 and SuSE version 8.

I've compiled in the necessary modules - sbp2, raw1394, ohci1394 and modprobe
-d verifies that all has gone o.k.

So, here's the error I get:

Sep 4 19:06:56 cumas kernel: ieee1394: sbp2: Error logging into SBP-2 device
- login timed-out
Sep 4 19:06:56 cumas kernel: ieee1394: sbp2: sbp2_login_device failed

I've googled and have come across others with the same error but nobody with a
solution.

Has anybody got any ideas?
