You could configure your internal resolving server to be authoritive
for the rayder.itcarlow.ie zone and give it an A record of 192.2.12.1 :)

That assumes that your public DNS server and your private resolving
server are on different machines or have different IP addresses though.

If that isnt the case you can run two name servers on the one machine
and use IP aliasing, or if you can't do that, run one on a loopback
address, ie 127.0.0.2 and use firewall rules to NAT the DNS traffic
based on source address.

Could you do somethign simpler like using rayner.internal.itcarlow.ie
for internal access ?
