WTF are you doing to them! Are you a smoker or something?
I've only once had a CDROM drive fail on me, and it was dodgy from day
one (bought two of them, 50% failure rate out of the box, the working
one degraded then failed minutes after the warranty had expired). I
still have and use the 4x Mitsumi I got 8 years ago in my first OEM PC.
