I found that after using red-carpet to install Ximian (which I like,
especially evolution) on my redhat 7.2 box that various apps wouldn't work,
especially the redhat-config-* ones, no errors just wouldn't launch. But I
found a fix for all the deps problems on rpm based systems, check it out
here: www.debian.org just download, install. Life is sweet

AAhhhhh, avoid!!! I remember installing Red Carpet for updating RedHat
(when I was using it) and it caused random problems in gnome-terminal.
After I installed it, I couldn't use gnome-terminal at all. It would
segfault everytime I tried to run it -- and I used gnome-terminal as my
primary terminal in X. I logged a bug report about it, but have heard
nothing since.
While checking up on my bug report though, I found several other
problems the same or very similar to mine, and got a few emails from
people who had similar problems aswell.
