Hi,
I have a machine with an Adaptec 2940U2W card which refuses to
boot from a SCSI disk. There are twin 36GB SCSI's attached, and
an IDE disk and CD-ROM. The card is a Dell OEM one.
I'm trying to install Redhat 7.3 on it, and it will install
perfectly but refuses to boot. When it gets around to booting
the first time it simply locks up without printing anything to
the screen after the BIOS 'Looking for boot thingy now'
Redhat 6.2, which I just installed to check, works perfectly,
installing from the IDE CD-ROM and booting from the SCSI without
any problems at all.
I know there's a discontinuity between the Adaptec drivers from
kernel 2.4.4 onwards, and was wondering if anyone else has been
bitten the same way and found a solution using command-line or
/etc/rc driven aic7xxx_old tinkering.
Google is not helpful in this case, due to verbiage.
Regards,
Vin
