Bruce,

Yes it is possible to use the Linux box to scan the emails that are sent and
received. Currently I am using mailscanner
(http://www.sng.ecs.soton.ac.uk/mailscanner/) with Sophos antivirus (Hint
look at my headers). But you will never be guaranteed protection from all
viruses.

All the windows clients here still run antivirus software. You cannot
protect against downloads that users decide would be cool to have on their
desktop, unless you integrate the virus software with your proxy. I have
this running here too, but I disable it for myself because I know its
causing me problems but I have not had time to fix it.

Above all, you cannot protect a windows box enough from a virus. Disable all
the vb stuff etc if you can. But there will always be viruses that escape
the latest virus definitions.

Cheers
AJ
