Buy a good book and have a machine to play around with would be the
cheapest option:-

For Euro64.77 you get the Red Hat 7.2 Bible by Christopher Negus is
quiet comprehensive and will guide you thru most of what you would
encounter with installing a RH system and configuring and admin'ing it.

It is probably updated for RH7.3 or 8 by now but the ISBN for 7.2 Ed is
0-7645-3630-3, and it comes with a 7.2 installation and kernel source on
the CD's.
