Hmmm. I cannot think of a suitable value for $DATABASE_COMPANY. I don't know
of any database server that handles distributed transactions.
Note that some products make use of many machines to act as one database,
but this is not the same thing. In many cases, one server handles the
transaction while the others act as backups and read-only data stores.
In a lot of cases, one server does nothing except keep backups, and recover
if the main server falls over.
(Me: still confused about the supposed benefits of clustering databases for
reliability.)
