[ILUG] FW: MS-Word DOC file format - request for help

Well this mail clears up one concern that i have had with mswordview,
microsoft obviously don't have a problem with it, and aren't going to
come hunting me with a big stick. Check out the lines that say "they
pointed <your website> as a reference".

It also answers my suspicions about the format itself, "they themselves
do not have complete documentation".

So there you go then, the word format is a mystery to ms itself, or at
least thats what they are telling their own clients.

OF course they sender of the mail is completely shafted, I haven't an
arse how to write word files :-).

Subject: MS-Word DOC file format - request for help

Dear Caolan McNamara,

Best regards.

I am working on saving files in MS-Word's DOC file format. We have managed
to write the text and table with font attributes.

We have to save text boxes and pictures. As Microsoft's documentation is not
very clear, we are stuck here.
I created a simple word file with BMP image file inserted and dumped the
"WordDocument" stream.
I found image data present after the LVC record. But I could not interpret
the CHP in format section and data preceding the image (after LVC).

We requested Microsoft regarding this. They said, they are not supporting
MS-Word's file format to developers. The reason they say is, they themselves
do not have complete (clear) documentation.
Also they pointed your website
http://www.csn.ul.ie/~caolan/docs/MSWordView.html
for additional reference. I downloaded sources from
/~caolan/publink/mswordview/development/wv path.
I do not found there is no image support.

I request you whether you can send me some information on the following,
1) Saving picture (any picture - ideally BMP)
2) creating text boxes
3) setting the column width in tables

I would be grateful to if you can help me in this,

PS: I guess from your name that you are Mr. and correct me if I am wrong.
- I have also subscribed to mswordview at domain egroups.com group.

Anticipating your support at the earliest,
With regards,

P.Selvam (Mr)
