You can ask for a Credit Card with a really low limit,
you know...then just pre-charge it when you need it. I
never thought I'd need or want a credit card. Now about
30% of my pay goes on it - I put everything from food to books from Amazon on
it.

But yes, it's difficult to get a hold of. Though, it's
not that easy to buy a boxed copy of RedHat in the shops either.

Hmm. I'd not thought to go buy a magazine for software. I generally have a
look on BeNews.com - they have reviews of most software for BeOS (it's nothing
like as busy as freshmeat), and about 70% of stuff is
commerical.

I'm tempted. Alas, I believe to really write stuff for BeOs, you have to know
C++. And, as many people that know me (and my college projects), I seem to be
immune to C++ and Prolog. Dunno how.

Anyway, on the Freeware thing, I had hoped BeOS would be more like the Amiga
than Linux - where most people didn't have compilers, so 50% of stuff was free
and was on AmiNET, 40% was shareware, and decent, and 10% was good, and
commerical. Seems with BeOS, it's all either crappy, or
slightly-better-than-crappy and $20. Some nice apps mind, and they do have
Quake2. And no TNT 3D drivers. Mutter.
