If you note, I ranted about how win2k did a similar thing to my mum's
machine.
The solution:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/disk
from a Linux box. When it gets to the end of the disk, then partition it,
with MSDOS fdisk with **one partition only** - that should sort it out...
Apparently, the ideas of what a partition table is, between various
versions of Windows differs a lot...and wiping just the first 512 bytes
doesn't work either!!
