us keyboards frequently have a ~ and ` on that key so it was pretty
obvious something was up there. i'm not used to three symbols on
a key - can't give a yank more then two choices he'll be lost.

you mean like e? on a linux box i type AltGr-; e. as a former
(recovered) emacs user that seems normal.

nah, all that weird ass accent shit needs to go away. everyone should
just speak normal american and be done with it.
