My wager is that there's always a need for it, since many companies get hooked
up to the Net but only do a little, if any, precautionary work to make their
site reasonably secure. Such a team could be hired to do a no-holds-barred
assault on a company's presense on the Internet, and give them a report on all
of the vulnerabilities that were found.

I've heard of companies being formed to do such work, but they seem to fail
because the world's corporations don't realize they *need* that sort of help.
So unless some incredible marketing is done, the team's efforts end up having
to close shop cuz they aren't finding enough clients. Even then, the
relationship usually needs to be a long-term one, kinda like an account
with a stock broker. They don't care about what you initially set up with
them, their goal is often to know that they'll be your route for your
future investments and the like.

Don't know if this helps, but figured I'd share my take on it. :-)
