Thanks Kenn and Martin.
I've gone with Martin's solution (the Masqdialer server) cos it's
client/server and gui based (with feedback on stats) and 'tis now working
fine. A quick word of warning for anyone else intending to use this:
c-mserver-0.5.5-1.rpm overwrote my existing /etc/rc.d/init.d/rc.firewall
without creating a backup.
I've saved Kenn's files and will peruse them later (when I put on my cgi
thinking cap).
Btw I came across a useful freeware telnet tool, which allows remote scripts
to be run (even from win9x machines): Teraterm pro at
http://www.vector.co.jp/authors/VA002416/teraterm.html
